Meet Renata
BIO
Born and raised in Indonesia, Renata came to the US to study engineering and later built a successful career in technology. She first discovered painting in college, and for years it remained a quiet passion she did alongside her demanding tech work. Her engineering background instilled in her a methodical approach to problem-solving and an appreciation for structure, qualities that would later inform her artistic practice in unexpected ways.
Following over a decade of success in the technology sector, Renata made the bold decision to follow her creative calling and transition to full-time artmaking. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Painting and Drawing, where she is deepening her understanding of classical techniques while maintaining her intuitive, experimental approach to creation. This unique combination of technical precision and creative spontaneity defines her distinctive artistic voice.
Renata's paintings are characterized by their bold color palettes, complex layering, and compositions that pulse with movement. Her works are visual conversations, inviting viewers to explore their own narratives within the canvases. Each work reflects her ongoing exploration of identity, transformation, and the spaces between cultures.
"At its heart, my work is about connection. Between artist and viewer, between past and present, between who we are and who weβre becoming. I hope my paintings spark moments of reflection and joy, and maybe even inspire others to learn something new." ~Renata Aryanti
Currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Renata lives and works from her studio where she continues to experiment with new techniques and media. Her commitment to continuous learning, a principle that guided her career transition, remains central to her artistic practice. Her work has been exhibited nationally throughout the US and is held in private collections around the world.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My paintings are vibrant conversations between color, movement, and emotion. Theyβre not just images on a canvas, theyβre invitations for dialogues. Each piece asks viewers to pause, feel, and find a part of their own story.
Art has been my companion in self-discovery. Every brushstroke, form, and texture is a step into the unknown, a chance to take risks and uncover something new. I draw inspiration from nature and my life as a mother and musician.
I believe in staying curious. That means constantly experimenting, pushing the boundary to try new techniques, new palettes, and evolving styles. My art evolves as I do, mirroring the way we all grow and transform over time.
At its heart, my work is about connection. Between artist and viewer, between past and present, between who we are and who weβre becoming. I hope my paintings spark moments of reflection and joy, and maybe even inspire others to learn something new.Β
